Hi guys my truck has broken down 3 times this week for 3 different issues. this latest one is one i might not be able to fix. The first was a bad wheel bearing, fixed. The second was a broken wire at the plug for the MAF sensor. fixed. This one happened today on the way home, normal driving, i had a hard time shifting gears. I have a 5 speed manual 2.7 4x4 base. then the truck sounded like a loose chain in my transmission. kind of a rattling noise like something floating around in there. I managed to limp it home but am at a loss of what to do. The dealership is out of the question. I'm thinking i need a new clutch. I have 118000 miles on the truck bought it used not sure if the clutch is original. Does anyone have a writeup on changing a clutch out? I need my truck running as its my daily driver.
    Thanks for any help.

Fixing a wheel bearing is one thing, but unless you're VERY mechanically inclined and have a lot of experience in the garage, you're not going to want to tackle the clutch yourself.

That being said, ask around town and find a good little local shop to do it.

Replacing a clutch is not something that you want to learn on the fly and you typically can't do it by yourself. Not only will you need a clutch, but a throw out bearing, an alignment tool, and possibly have your flywheel surfaced. I hope you have something else to drive for a while.

some of this, a little of that
How sure are you its the clutch?

Can you get it to a transmission shop for a diagnosis?
