2014 base DC, 4x4's really $32k? I swear I've read post here where members have got new '14 OR's for. $28-$30k

Only if the '08 T4R is the coveted V8 model. I heard the 4.0 is kind of a dog in the 4th gen. If I'm going to have the 4.0, I would prefer a Tacoma.

I know pricing can vary from place to place.. But you should be able to get a base way cheaper than 32msrp, even an SR5. Tough choices tho, there all good, think of the new smell tho and owning it from day one.

FWIW, I paid $25k for my 2011 DCLB TRD Sport (Pyrite Mica) with 58k on it less than two months ago.

So, although the miles are lower I'd think that 2011 is priced a bit high since it's just an SR5.

I think that decision may be better made knowing the intended use. If you haul, the 4 Runner won't fit without a trailer, if you want a cushier ride and a more plush vehicle, 4 Runner.

You may find that financing a new truck is more attractive than a used vehicle for not much more money + have a new vehicle warranty. You may pay quite a few more % points for a used vehicle loan. Used Tacomas don't drop much in value.

I can guarantee that you can get a 2014 base 4X4 for lower. Use the USAA car buying service. I did and it guaranteed that the highest I would pay for the TRD OR that I liked was $30500.

Assuming you are buying from a dealer....

    2011 4x4 Double Cab SR5 with 34k miles $27,500 (Barc. Red)

Depending on your credit/money situation...you should be able to haggle this closer to the $24,000 range. No more than 27,000.
Of course this REALLY depends on your credit and willingness to spend the time haggling without giving in.

If you are buying from an individual you can probably make a better deal than this...you are talking about a vehicle that is already five years old and if nothing else any rubber type products on vehicle, and there are a lot, are seriously deteriorating...at least that would be one small argument.

And it can help to get pre-approved from a credit union or bank. If you go in with $25K in hand, they'll have a hard time turning it down.
