Just bought a 2010 DCSB with 32,000 miles. It is just out of warranty due to an November in service date. Question is, how critical is it that I get this TSB performed? I will not likely tow and bed loads are rarely over 1000#. Opinions?
I assume cost is out of my pocket due to expired warranty.

Thanks to TW, I bought a used 2010 DCSB TRD OR w/20K and found out about the TSB through this site, took me all of two days to realize that I needed this done as I hooked up an empty trailer to the truck, then checked that it only had the three leaf pack that appeared to be arched backwards.

Called the dealer the truck was originally bought from (local dealer and bought the truck locally) the first gentleman I talked to said to see him when I brought it in. Took it in, left it with them, he called a couple hours later stating the parts were ordered and to explain the stiff ride to me. Done deal.

Toyota of Rockwall. Did the springs and trans flash. Tried to cut my pedal but told them if they do I am cutting them off my list. This was on my 2009 DCSB. Did it right except centering steering wheel. Had to take it back.

Is there an updated TSB pdf for this? I have a buddy that joined the Tacoma family today. I want to pass this on to him.

Does anyone know if this is an issue for 2013 and newer Tacomas or how you can tell if it has newer ones? I havn't loaded her up enough to be able to tell.

Just got mine done (on my 2011 AC regular 4x4). Spoke to the Service Manager on the phone first telling him of the "rear spring harsh ride when loaded" and he said no problem and after ordering the parts to come in to get it fixed.
This was at IRA Toyota, Danvers, MA.
While it was in, I got a few other warranty items done.

YES I KNOW, ALOT OF YOU COMPLAIN THAT THE TSB SPRINGS ARE NOT MUCH BETTER.
After paying good money for the truck and the fact that I don't haul much, I figure I should be good for a while anyway.
    The truck
sits better with a slight rake forward and a little firmer ride.

only the 2013 sports come with the 3 leaf+ overload...

I have a brand new 2013 trd OR dcsb... came with a 2leaf+overload .... sags like a mofo in the back with only a dirbike and 50lbs of gear back there.... i drove it to the dealer the day i got home with the bike still in the back and went.... not acceptable... still working on a solution as the main service guy is waiting to hear back from his rep about the driveline vibe fix... worst comes to worse i told him that at minimum we are ordering a 2014 TRD sport leaf pack.

FYI ALL 2014 6 luggers come with the 3+1overload spring... base OR and SPORT.

Actually in 2013 all of them come with 3 + overload except the TRD OR. I think 2014 all of them come with the 4 leaf pack.

Took care of me no questions or hassles. The work was even covered under my 100k mile/7 Year Warranty. Same dealership where I bought the truck last fall so I'm sure that helped. All in all, a good experience with a dealer.

I just picked up an '05 with less than 100k on it, and I don't think this TSB has been performed on it. If I take it to Toyota will they perform it for free or should I expect to pay for it?

If I'm going to end up paying for it, I might as well just add a leaf myself.

    Just curious guys, thanks!!

doubtful. even if you have the extended 100k warranty they dont have to do it, IIRC.

Just noticed this thread, so I'll add my experience.
I had this replacement done at Team Toyota in Bucks Co., just north of Philly, Pa. I called to schedule the work and stet up an appointment after they ran the vin.
When I showed for the appointment, they did not have it in their system!! They were, of course, apologetic. They offered me the only pair they had left, due to a no-show in their system. I took the springs and they completed the work the same day. I live close by, so I also received courtesy rides. I figured, let them explain their fowl up to the other customer since it was their mistake.
The work looks nice and tight.
