retrofiting h1 using existing HI/LO wiring harness???

    Several months ago i installed hid's on my truck using the 4300k h4/9003 with HI/LO. now i have decided to retrofit using the morimoto mini h1:D. the question is can i use my existing wiring harness that came with my kit, (trying to save money!) or is there some sort of converter i need to buy? or do i need to buy all new wiring? i know of corse im going to have to buy h1 bulbs. // also can i use the stock rubber garmet that seals the headlights with the retrofit?:confused: thanks

    me on left with 4300k and friend on right with 6000k. big difference huh? as soon as i can figure out these questions were both gone tackle the (anti-glare mod.)

    Um, pretty sure that's all you need. But, I'm unsure about using your old hid kit. Guess you could try it and see how it does. And if u have any issues then you'll have to buy the other kit. All Trs products are designed to work together so there's no telling how it'll do on some other hid kit. But I've heard of people doing that before and haven't heard of anything terrible happening... Another thing is u need to make sure what kind of connectors your kit uses for bulbs. Whether it be amp or d2s. If they're amp u can use the H1. Or they make an adapter cable to go from D2s to amp. Other than that u should be good.
    And yeah the rubber grommet should work fine. Might have to put something in the bulb hole to seal it better is all. But do not buy the rubber grommets from Trs. They are the one product they have that is garbage. The rubber is way too thin and just rips when you try to squeeze wires through it.

    Based off looking at these pics you should be able to determine if everything will connect and work.

    Purchasing that moto control box should work. As long as your connections on your previous hid kit are the same and will plug in. The 'ballast input/output' connectors should match. They will look like the ones in 2nd pic.
    And your other wire coming out of your ballast for the bulb (not shown in the first pic) should be a 2 wire amp connector. (3rd pic)

    Not sure if you know all that already but there it is anyways:D
    EDIT: Oh and one more thing, basically all you're using from your old kit is your ballasts and not the wiring harness.

    Thanks toendange for helping me clear that up. I reckon I'll try and see what happens. I mean the worst is that it blows my bulbs and shorts out and burns my truck down!! Haha

    Ha, nahhhh. You'll be fine. I'm just worried about it flickering or not igniting the bulbs if anything.
