I had the dealership order me a new frame, thought it would take them a couple weeks, ended up clipping a pole in a parkade with my back tire and broke my axle as well as f'd up my fender. A day later the dealership called me to say that had the frame in. That was after I had my insurance company tow the vehicle away.

On top of all this I have my truck scheduled to trade in on a new 4runner. :(

So currently Im driving a rental, which is a 1 tonne 3500 dodge cummins. Its been over a week and my trucks damage wont be assessed until at the earliest next week, so I am assuming it wont be fixed for 3 weeks from now, then it goes to get the new frame. I have a feeling I will never drive my truck again as my 4runner will probably be in by the time the frame is done.

I'm going to miss my baby.

To add a cherry to the top of my dilemma, someone backed into my rental and did a hit and run. So there's another deductible I'll be paying. I could really use some good luck.

Oh and my nexus 5 stopped working, had to go back to my old iphone 4 which barely works.

Does anyone know just what the dealer does to clean your frame and remove the rust, prior to application of "their" rust protection..????

I would like to know this, as my frame and total truck has been protected by "corrosion free" every 18 months and it looks very nice....

I doubt I've got any holes in the frame...

If they don't remove the box and some other parts, they will NOT get the frame cleaned up well.... How about the INSIDE of the "boxed" portions...???

    Any body have this done...???

Here is a link to the procedure for the tundra, I would assume it would be the same for our trucks

I had my truck inspected this weekend. It qualified for CRC application to the frame.

    I have attached:

Technical Instructions for Customer Satisfaction Campaign # 173 2005-2008 Model Year Tacoma. Warranty Coverage Extension For Tacoma Rust Corrosion Perforation in Canada

Letter to All Toyota Dealer Service Managers in Canada

I am sorry for the poor copy of the documents but it still can help to answer some of the questions posted on this thread
related to the CRC campaign both in Canada and USA.

I can assure what the procedure states and what they do are two different things. I know this is based on each dealer and tech but from what I have seen the work done for prep is very poor and the beds were not taken off. I have seen a few of them done on the previous campaign which was the tundra. Even if the truck was in good shape to get just a coating with minimal prep the work is paid for and should be done.

Be very clear up front and state you want to check up if you have any worries. It is your property.

Toyota is supposed to have improved the undercoating so that it does not drip for weeks but I cannot confirm it has gotten any better. Dealers used to warn customers since it would stain driveways. I can find out if it improved or not but toyota wants its not to harden for protection purposes.

Lets start taken bets on when the 5th gens campaign will start.... 2020, Pretty sad. I know most wont agree and it is apples to oranges but it is like the scenario with dodge cummins, great engine wrapped with problems.

Dogamintor, can't see the yellow section where a 10mm hole can be to allow for frame replacement

I recently bought a 2008 Access Cab and noticed an abnormal amount of paint flaking/rusted welds. I called Toyota and I am not included in this LSC, yet. The vehicle was purchased new in Pennsylvania and remained registered there until I purchased it. It is not registered in Ohio.

Should I take the time and coat the frame myself (Eastwood rust encapsulator) or should I wait to see if Toyota rolls out the LSC to me? From what I have read PA and OH are included but Toyota hasn't authorized any dealerships to perform the work yet?

I hope the dealer at least knows where the yellow sections are. Lol. Thanks for the post

To all the Canadians with imported trucks, how are you guys dealing with this? Do we just have to wait until our VIN shows up in Toyota's US recalls look-up website? My truck in originally from Arizona and so far nothing is coming up for corrosion. I have tried calling Toyota Canada and they can't help due to my US VIN#, I've tried emailing Toyota US and they say there is nothing for my vehicle.

According to the documents that dogaminator posted my VIN falls within the range but do I need a letter before I can take it in? How will I receive my letter now? Toyota Canada doesn't recognize my US VIN and Toyota USA doesn't recognize my Canadian address.

They found a hole in my 06 frame today so I'll be getting a new frame... They said it'll be around a month before the frame gets shipped to dealer...

Since we have the procedure, I'd not be shy to have a copy in hand when I drop of the vehicle for work ... just so THEY know YOU know what's expected and that you expect it to be done to the Toyota Procedure before they start.

There's only 32,000 Tacomas in the whole of Canada that need to be checked? Tacomas don't sell well up there or what?
