I'm shopping for new tires for the taco and I came across the Cooper Adventure AT from pepboys but I can find little to no info on them even on the cooper website. any one with experice with these? are they just a Discover AT3 with a different name just for pepboys?

they look identical except the name on the side

there's a slight difference in the middle tread shape, but they look like they achieve the same all terrain goal. have you looked at specs? side wall ply? tread depth may be the bigger difference in these, its hard to tell by the pics, in person you could judge better.

can't say anything about the adventurers, but the Disco AT3's are a great tire, its on my work Tacoma at the strip mines, sees a lot of sharp rocks/slurry/etc. no punctures or issues yet with around 30K miles.
If you wanna beef it up, check out the ST Maxx by Cooper. that's what i have on my personal Taco. awesome, but slightly more noisy and heavier than the Disco AT3's.

They look more like the Mastercraft Courser AXT's. There is slight difference though, maybe a mix of the two. Mastercraft is made by Cooper.

I think the just figured it out. the Adventure AT and the AT3 SUV are both passenger rated tires the AT3 in the 265/75r16 is a LT tire

    I have 30000+ on the Discoverer AT3's. 265/65r18.

    The Good:
    - They're wearing well, about 1/2 way worn down so far (could get 2 more winters out of them, which would be good for almost 60,000 miles).
    - They're go well in the snow and rain
    - They have a cool look
    - They're cheap compared to other 'lugged' all terrain tires (think Grabbers, BFG, Duratrac's.
    - They're quieter than most all terrain tires, although they're louder than stock tires (compared to Dunlop AT20's)
    - Not extremely heavy since they're a SL (standard load) tire

    The bad:
    - Lost 1 MPG (although, you expect this with heavier, lugged, tires).
    - You need to rotate the tires frequently. I've read that people have had 'cupping' issues with the lugs if you don't rotate. I have 30k miles and don't see a problem so far (rotated every oil change which is 5k to 7k on average).
    - It's a LT tire, so sidewall is weaker than some All Terrain tires. But they're lighter - its a trade off.... If I was off-roading in these, I'd consider something stronger.

So I still really have no idea which to get. The adventure ATs and AT3 SUV are P265/75r16 while the AT3 is a LT265/75R16 Adventures are $125 SUVs are $118 and AT3s are $140 I can tell no differnece in specs between the Adventures and the SUVs just the name but the AT3s are only a load range C.

Not doing any serious off roading no doing any heavy hauling. at $118 each the AT3 SUV looks like my winner unless someone can tell me something different about them

Look at the weight of each tire one is heavier than the other which means thicker rubber for the tread...and two different types of rubber Compounds, one has different tread pattern as well, different size siping and sidewall... I have the AT3 and they are great move water like no other tyre, and look good, but I'll be getting me a new set of the ST Maxx, and take advantage of my cooper employee discount...

You sound like me. I only haul a trailer with bikes/quads now and then and they hold up fine. I don't off road, but I go on the occassional dirt road.

Keep in mind also that the number of plys in the sidewalls is what gives a tire a higher load rating, which means that it'll ride stiffer when you hit bumps. My AT3's are a 'SL', or standard load, rating (4 plys), which is not very stiff but I don't need them to be because I don't haul heavy things that much - they've been fine for me.

If you get a heavy load rating without the need for it, you're probably wasting money.

I think I read before the AT3 is made just for Discount Tire AKA Americas Tire. I think they are basically the same tire with a little different tread blocks.

I have about 25000 on my adventure AT's. They are just like the at3 but just for pepboys. They do great on and off road. Little road noise but not bad at all. They are a cooper tire, so you're not going wrong there.

I know this is an outdated thread but I'm doing some comparison shopping and Pepboys seems to have an incredible deal on these tires right now:

    Buy 3 get 1 free
    10% off
    $70 Cooper rebate

It says the buy 3 get 4th free expires TODAY... And it's for the A/T, not the AT/3...not sure what the difference is.

good catch... I'm thinking I should get new tires. Mine have cupped and I'm getting some vibrations... I think by next spring i'll be really pushing the tires to their limit.

I called. They quoted me about 770 out the door (not including rebate). My tires are 265/65/18, which is a little bigger than shown above.

Stopped by Pepboys and checked out the Adventurer AT. 265/70r16 and 265/75r16. Rolled the 75 out to mock up with truck:

Oh, my quote from Pepboys was $537.33 after rebates & discount. Buy 3 get 1 free runs until end of month and $70 rebate runs through Halloween.

Lol. Don't believe the deadline shown on the website.

Yesterday it said it runs through 9/9/15 (yesterday's date). Today (9/10/15) it says the deal runs through 9/16/15.

I believe what you said - it's either until the end of the month, or like Pepboys told me, it's perpetual.
