ok so Im about to lift my truck soon, like Monday soon, and I got some 35" tires with a 6" BDS Lift. i want to wait and see how the truck reacts before i regear it. my question is, how soon do i have to regear it? ive read a few different threads and some say id be fine for a while.

im thinking giving it about a year?..... is that to long? ehat do you guys think?

I'm only on 33's but I have over 40K with my lift and tires and there is not a thing wrong. You will suffer some power loss with bigger tires but if you can stand that I don't think you necessarily need to regear...

You can drive forever without regearing. I run 33s I plan on re gearing in this year. I want to get my engine back into its designed operating range.

What is your current gear ratio? 3.73's I am guessing... Hold off and see if you can live with the power loss, may not be as bad as you think. You might be surprised with how much torque you actually have.

Running 35s on a 3" lift with 4.56s, I think the gearing is perfect IMO, I know some members run 35s on stock gears with the downfall of being gas mileage but my mileage is worse with 35s than it was with 33s.

sounds like 33's are the way to go, i think i might have to get 33's instead of 35's.

35s would look better with a 6in lift IMO

ok. Well i have 35 on stock gears and I burned through my clutch to fast. For me re-gearing was totally necessary and felt like whole new truck. Plus Less stress on the transmission.

    to answer both questions.

    Parts:

    (1) ARB front locker $949
    (1) ARB rear locker $949
    (1) Nitro 4.56 front ring and pinion $299
    (1) Nitro 4.56 rear ring and pinion $225
    (1) Nitro master setup kit front $349
    (1) Nitro master setup kit rear $231
    (1) Nitro rear solid pinion spacer $55
    (1) 80w90 GL5 Gear oil $40

    Total parts: $3097 + tax.

    Labor:

Remove and reinstall (R&R) front diff $250
Setup front diff with ARB, 4.56, all new bearings $375
    R&R rear diff $175
Setup rear diff with ARB, 4.56, all new bearings $275
    Total Labor $1075

    4200 + Arb Air compressor 250.00 about $4500

Labor and cost part might little bit lower where you are but here is rough idea for you. I figured since i had both diffs open might as well put in lockers.
