Current tires are low on tread and dry rotted. One already gave out and I had to buy a used one to keep me going. Going to be getting new OME suspension and was thinking of the possibilities for tires afterwards. Don't do any off-roading. Most my truck will see is a trip to the city dump lol. But wanted something with a nice amount of traction in rain as I don't have traction control. Also, I want something with a little more aggressive tread. I was looking at the General Grabber AT 2's. Any other brands you guys recommend? Nothing too expensive.

I have the General Grabber AT2s, they've been good. Only real complaint is they pick up rocks. But they're quite and the price compared to some of the others is good.

Seems a little extreme. Correct me if I'm wrong, but won't a 3 ply tire ride harsher?

I was leaning towards those after I did some research on the others that were listed. Other one is the Cooper AT/3 and is a very close second. I'd probably end up ordering them from TireRack and the nearest distribution place is in Shreveport which would make it a 600+ mile travel to pick them up for free or $122.72 for them to ship them to my house, which I'd probably spend in gas to get there lol. And the Generals are $100 cheaper than the Coopers. Gonna have to do some more investigating. Thanks for the input!

I had them put on around 1,500 miles now I have 38,000 and change. Still plenty of tread left, I've kept them rotated and balanced regularly. Had them in about every condition and they've done fine. They look good too, that was one reason I got them, I'm particular about the way tires look. Plus they're not too heavy.

And yeah gas prices are ridiculous.

I want these but they're too heavy, I don't want to take a huge hit on my MPG. I'm pretty settled now on the 265-75-16 duratrac in load range C, only around 45lbs/ea. The coopers are around 49lbs/ea. Will that 4lbs. make a big difference?

If you have the coopers, did you notice any difference in MPG? I've seen a few people say it brought them down to around 14mpg.

Are they pretty soft for E load range? I may have to get these over the Duratrac's. I'm not a big fan of Goodyears but the Duratrac's do look good on the Tacoma.

BFG's are too much. Do you have any experience with the Toyo's?

I got a set of LT265/75/16 toyo open country AT2's on my truck. Had them for about 5 months now and love them. Nice a quiet on the highway, great in the city. I found that the truck on stock suspension was a little nicer ride after the install. (Maybe that is all in my mind though). Also did't seem to affect mpg too much either.

my vote is BFG A/T's, if you want something real aggressive looking Cooper ST Maxx.

I speak through experience, I have ONLY had those two, the BFG were excellent except for deep snow and slick mud. So far the ST Maxx has been excellent in every situation it has been in.

    The Toyos will cost more.

I have a couple buddies running them and they love em. Also Sierra Expeditions spoke highly of them the last time I was in there.

    Good luck
