Hi everyone, I registered today in order to post about the JL CP106 microsub. I just recently installed this into a newly acquired Tacoma Doublecab, fitting in the plastic compartment behind the driver side back seat. It is a tight fit, but it does fit and sounds great. I went with a Sony head unit, JL6x9 and 6.5" in the doors driven by a JL XD600/6. Now I know I'm getting a little old (46) to be playing with car audio stuff but it was fun, and I have to say I picked up some good info on this site so I felt compelled to contribute what I learned, which is although the JL microsub is small by subwoofer standards, if doing a simple upgrade to your audio system is the goal, like me you would be pleased with this little guy. I noticed others have used the CP108 which is slightly larger yet to install does require trimming or removing some of the plastic panel. This is not required with the CP106, that was a big bonus for me as I dislike permanent modifications. Good luck with all your future mods and remember to be a contributor as well!!

So you just installed this in place of the stock sub in the factory enclosure retaining the use of the stock amp?

I am planning on doing this with a Fosgate sub. But my stock sub is so quiet that I am beginning to think my stock amp isn't putting out what it should.

I just bought the truck though and I've never heard another JBL system to compare it to so I don't know if it's supposed to be that way or what. I guess I'll see when I install a new sub.

Oh and is the JL sub you installed a 2 or 4ohm unit? Thanks.

The JBL system has a subwoofer behind the rear passenger seat at the bottom and behind the plastic panel, youtube has a video by ********* showing how to get access to the stock sub and what it looks like. The JL micro sub I installed was the 6.5" ported box CP106, it is very small as I've said before, and it fits near perfectly behind the drivers back seat in the plastic storage compartment, I have a 2012 dbl cab. and the speaker is a 4ohm model at 150 watts. It won't blow the doors off but it sounds very good for it's size. BTW, my system was a non JBL sytem so I didn't have a stock subwoofer to begin with. I'll get around to putting up some pics soon.
