Got 5100 set to 1.75 with stock trd sport rims. Will 285s fit with or without wheel adapters? If I get adapters what are their limitations with going off road? Or should I just get 265 70 17? Thanks

You will need spacers if you put 285's on stock wheels. I don't think 285's will fit with just 1.75 setting either(not without a monsteros amount of trimming). Most people still rub even with 5100's set at 2.5. Hell, I have aftermarket wheels with Toytec coilovers set at 3" and i still had to trim some to fit 285's, but backspace is definitely a factor when getting aftermarket wheels. As far as offroading with spacers, most people do fine, just make sure you check tightness each time you rotate your tires. I used to run them and never had any issues at all. If you just wanna leave the front at 1.75, i would prob stick with 265

If you keep the setting at 1.75 and put on a 265 with a wheel spacer, it will look good. I see guys do it all the time. I think it looks really good on the Offroad models. I personally like the Offroad wheels better than the sport wheels. I would look into getting the 1.25 spidertrax wheel spacers though. They are considered to be the better of most spacers amongst alot of tacoma owners i feel. Bora makes sets aswell, but anything under 1.25, you have to cut down your original wheel studs after you install the spacer, which i personally don't like.

Thanks man I'll be looking 1.25 adapters. I think I've seen then on eBay. Didn't know you have to cut when you get anything less than that.

IMO. you should make them not rub at all full stuff at all points in turning.... if you cant flex the truck without them rubbing then whats the point.

Cab mount chop, inner fender removed, and pinch weld flattened out is what is going to be needed to fit a 285/75/16 285/70/17 at full stuff, and even then there might be a smidge of rubbing.

I have 285 70 17, Spidertrax 1.25, and 5100s set at 2.5. Yes, there is rubbing. Yes, I can still offroad. Yes, I'm about to cut a lot from inside the fender.

    A little a this, a little a that...
Without proper back spacing you'll rub on your UCAs.
