Any ideas what dealerships do with parts upgraded/replaced prior to sale, ie upgraded wheels, but more particularly (personal interest) when stock seats are updated to leather - looking for replacement front seat bottoms.

    TIA

when the stock seats are upgraded to leather these are just covers. This is as long as you are talking about Katskins or Roadwire. Everyone should still have the existing seats underneath.

Negative. Just the cushions are there. The factory upholstery is removed. I have my cloth seat covers in a box. Replaced with katzkin leather. There are "covers" available, but quality sets replace the original

You can call around to places that install near toyota dealerships, or watch ebay. There's a full set on there now

When the dealer I bought from replaced my stock rear view mirror with a homelink mirror I made them give me the stock mirror, they tried to keep it.

When I picked my '14 up, I had ordered it with a short-throw and the bead lock style rims...they threw the stock rims and the original shifter in the bed of the the truck without me asking. Was nice of them :)

Most dealership just throw them away, unless told to keep them by the owner.

If the truck is new off the lot, the take off parts go back in the parts bin as NEW to be resold...

actually if you buy a truck that has for example upgraded suspension, and or wheels you have paid for those parts by buying the truck and should ask for them or ask for a discount for not getting them.

Whoever owns the vehicle owns the parts, so if the dealer swaps out stuff prior to selling it, they are free to keep the take-outs into their inventory, or I imagine there is some process for them to "sell back" to the Toyota parts pipeline as well.

But if you own the truck and get work done, they are yours. Even a used oil filter if you were to insist on keeping it. I know folks that will not get any kind of repair work done without asking for the old parts. One, to make sure the shop was honest and two just because they like looking at it to maybe understand what went wrong.
