Not sure if this is the right place to post, so please let me know.

I have a 2001 tacoma.. Had the starter relay go out last week. Replaced and ran great until this morning. Got in to start the truck and as soon as I press on the brake I completely lose control power. I believe it reset the clock as well. I've tried my google-fu and looked at a poorly written wiring diagram but can't seem to find anything that links the brake pedal with not being able to start the truck. If I don't put my foot on the brake, I can hear the relay clicking, but the truck still wont start. I did notice that periodically one of my brake lights would stay on but that hasn't happened in 3 or 4 months. My best guess is a short in the brake circuit is grounding out my ignition power or a faulty brake light switch? Any help you guys could provide as far as where to start looking or links to a better wiring diagram would be very helpful. All the old links to diagrams seem to have been taken down. I thank everyone in advance and look forward to participating in this site. I kind of stumbled upon it but I see alot of great content here.

    Thanks again!

PS Ive also checked all the relay coil's and fuses I could think of and none were open.
