Would this thing withstand the impact of a deer on Freeways/highways? Anyone has any experience?E603E62D-1D4F-4907-85CF-DA3CEF6F23AE_zps_74c76e62a1d8eab2ab46ddb168fb1a5de361c934.jpg

Not a chance. If you hit a deer square at speed you're looking at a lot of repair work.

I don't think so. I have a cattleman (looks a lot like a ranch hand) on mine...

I went with this one it looked beefier than the one like you posted.

nothing will stop a deer. a brush guard will help but it could still bounce over it and go through the windshield. it's all in how you hit the deer and if it's in the air jumping or not and so forth.

Shucks!!, sounds like this thing defeats the purpose.. The only reason I decided to buy it in the first place was maybe this thing would absorb the the impact and cause less disabling damages on the truck since I drive on country roads quite often with Deere grazing by the side of the roads. What was I thinking?:D.

You need a bumper that was designed for hitting deer, like an ARB

No. Even an ARB could still lead to frame damage. A brush guard is for just that, brush, and possibly VERY low speed impacts. I was going to put a Ranch Hand on my Taco until I looked at the size of the actual mounting points. Now I plan to wait until my warranty expires and plan to do an OME 886 suspension, ARB front, and Body Armor rear.

Depending on what kind of warranty you have, anything after market like lifts bumpers etc can void the warranty. I have an "aftermarket warranty" on my 2006 (I bought it last year) and it is bumper to bumper covers everything but tires, brakes & wipers. If I lift it, it voids all coverage and suspension related items (essentially everything).

So I wont be lifting my truck for another 3 years or 40k miles (had a 4 yr 50k mile warranty).
