FINALLY! I had the dealership do the 2011-12 TSB for the squeaking rear brakes. Took the truck in at 0900 and drove out by 1030! They replaced everything from the gaskets to both rear drums and pads. The dealership allowed me to talk with the mechanic and really all they could confirm was that there may be a difference in the pad materials. Replacing the entire drum seemed like over kill... but there has been NO sounds from them so far! +1 for the dealership and their willingness to perform the TSB in a timely manner without giving me one of the horror stories so often posted here.

I took mine a while back but was told that it was normal wear and tear. I didn't know that there was a TSB for the rear brakes.

Its for the late 2011 / early 2012s. If your truck is in that range .. ask again

Was there that much of a design change in those years vs. the earlier models and then the later models, to cause this grief???

As far as I could tell there is no design change, just a material change in the pads themselves. I was standing right there as the mechanic was putting the shoes together and everything looked virtually identical.

Mine was a slow speed thing... right at the end of the stop they would squeak. It was a constant thing.

Hmm, this must explain all of my squeaking slowing to a stop too. It's freaking annoying

I have an 07 and the rear brakes always squeal. The dealer just says it's lots of brake dust build up. Anyone else have this issue?

This was a different squeak.. last second or two of a stop. A constant thing. It wasn't just brake dust. Toyota thought enough of it to replace mine and they have been quiet since
