No way would I spend 22k on a vehicle with over 100k miles on it. That is nuts.

x2 on that. Get a 4R or FJC. Sounds like that may be more "your thing"

But on a side note, I love my DCLB...except for the wheelbase being SO EFFING LONG and the terrible turning radius. Not the best for off-road

Just to clarify and it won't help my case much. Only 2 were Tacomas (1 had work that needed to be addressed before it could be driven across country and I didn't have time for it, and the other I currently have. None of these vehicles were bought new. My finances are fine, I work my ass off to pay for what I want, but that being said yes they could be better obviously. While the replies are harsh, it's exactly what was looking for. I appreciate the honesty. ...the itch has subsided for now.

 

Here's what I'd do if I was you. If your finances aren't in the shitter after the last year, you can afford to do what you want. If you want to upgrade, do it. But like I said in the first reply here, buy something you'll keep this time and don't buy until you find whatever that is.

My Tacoma buying experience was similar to your own in regards to the car I had before wasn't cutting it and I didn't really want it, I just drove it because I had it already. Took a bit of a bath on it and traded it into my truck that I'll drive until it's a paper weight

Constantly swapping vehicles will wreck you one day, and prohibit you from financial peace in the mean time, there's no sense in busting your ass just to break even in life, so if you can honestly look at something, drive it, run the numbers and it makes financial sense to you AND its something that will fill your needs for the next decade then GO FOR IT

Is it THAT stupid, if it's actually something he'll keep for a decade? To be fair, I don't see much difference in what he's proposing versus someone here spending $30k+ on a new Tacoma and then spending half that much again in lift, bumpers and armor, tires, herpaderp, etc

All up to what they can afford, no? OP says he can afford to. Seems to me if he picks the right vehicle for once (sarcasm) then he's in the clear. If not, he needs to refrain from being a consumer until he knows what he really wants.

Coming from a guy who has done a lot of horse trading over the years, on several instances buying a new (used) vehicle and keeping it for as little as 2 weeks; I get it.

Here's my take on it: if you can afford it, and you want it, then get it.

Now having said that, I'm not sure there is logically a good reason to go from an AC to a DC, because for all intents and purposes you are getting the same setup, only with a few extra inches of rear passenger space (and a shorter bed).

I'd also point out that your recent purchase history would indicate that you re highly unlikely to keep the truck long term, despite what you tell yourself now.
