I just purchased a Weathertech Bug deflector for my 2014 Tacoma.

After looking at the truck and the deflector, it appears the fit would be very tight between the hood/fenders and grill. The deflector comes with some clear 3M tape to "protect" the paint and grill, but I don't think they would last.

Has anyone had any experience with these deflectors? Any loss of paint?

    Thanks!

I have the oem shield, and while the fit & finish is superb, I too wonder how long the tape will last where the brackets extend from between the leading edge of the hood and grill.

Instead of using just one strip of the clear tape, per bracket, I doubled up the clear strips to make it extra thick. I also found that by doing that, it stiffened up the shield, as it's not as floppy in the wind on the front of the truck.

Good luck, I'm not familiar with the Weathertech version, for all I know, they probably make the OE Toyota version as well?
