Have a look at the Wild Country XTX Sport. I just bought some as I went through the same process as you, and I decided I did not want a heavy E. I found this tire and really liked the water/slush clearing and snow symbol, looks good in person.

Picked up the Grabbers in the SL rated 265/70/17 and got them installed today. It was only a few KM trip back from the Garage but I really liked the ride and they look great on the truck compared to the Duellers that came off !

I had the E's on my FJ Trail Teams, and the difference is night and day compared to the C's I have on my Tacoma. Both trucks have the same basic setup suspension wise, but the FJ is actually way way way smoother on the freeway and feels much better offroad.

I'm one of those picky people that hate bumpy rides and rattles, and I've had two different FJ's with the E's, and I think the reason they are so good is that the suspension does a lot of the work, and the tires don't "flop" to the sides when I'm moving at a good clip. The C's on my Tacoma feel like they are going to peel off, almost like the old balloon tires on my Honda ATC (exaggerating a bit of course). But with the E's, it feels like the truck is stable, solid, smooth, and it honestly feels more like one solid unit than the current factory tires I have now on my Taco, which have all of 9,000 miles on them and are already cracking, but still have full tread. They are just flimsy.

I won't buy anything but the Grabber AT/2 E rated or BF Goodrich E rated tires for my Tacoma which come standard on the FJ Trail Teams from now on. They just work. Especially since I have the 16" wheel, which means more rubber sidewall, and I want that extra bit more stiff and "locked in" than the thinner sidewall that sort of flops around, especially when even taking mild bends like exiting the freeway. It doesn't matter what air pressure I am running, they squeak and sometimes feel like they are going to just rip right off the wheels. It's a bit unsettling. If I had the money I'd be sitting in a tire shop having the E's installed this morning to be honest.

I had them installed last November. so far they've been great. you'll enjoy them. inflate them to around 45 psi. ride is fine. winter/snow driving in 2wd is great. mileage didn't seem affected by weight.
