    Hey Guys,

I had Toyota look at my truck today with regards to the 2005's being added to the frame rust recall. It turns out that my front right wheel well has perforation in it. They said that they took pictures of the section(s) that were an issue and sent them off to Toyota Canada to advise on a next step.

Has anyone else been through this? What is the best course of action? I don't really want to have them weld anything onto the frame because if one part has perforated then other sections are probably close as well. What should I be fighting for with Toyota Canada?

    Thanks in advance!
    Ben

Hey, Ben. My 05 is at my Dealer now, waiting for a complete frame. I would trust your Dealer to do the best thing, but try to make your Service Tech your best friend ! He/she will keep you posted all the way if you make constant contact with them. You should always voice your objection/opinion and ask for their advice. This corrosion issue is very deep in their system, so they have a lot of experience with it. Our 2nd Gen Tacos are a bit more valuable, so Toyota is taking every step to keep us happy and the trucks on the road. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advise guys, I'll take a look for the other threads. I didn't see any yesterday in a quick look, but I wasn't looking very hard.

When I picked the truck up they said there was a 90 - 95% chance I'd be getting a new frame, but it had to go through Toyota Canada for that decision. But they would be surprised if it didn't happen. I'll find out sometime in the next couple weeks. Apparently the frames are on back order as well so it will be a couple months before the new frame is in to put under my truck.

I was hoping for a frame replacement, the whole underside of the truck is covered in rust, it's a little annoying, the 2 guys who had the truck before me never took care of that it seems. But this should resolve some of that.
