I'm thinking of a way to secure a long gun in the back of a double cab Tacoma out of sight. Maybe under the rear seat or behind the rear seat. Any ideas out there?

^ This isn't a bad option. Short of that i'm not sure how out of sight you could get it. What kind of long gun do you have in mind?

you might also hop into the Show off your guns thread and see if anybody there has any ideas

I have a youth model 20 ga. It's a Mossberg 510 mini that would be an excellent truck gun. I'm not sure of the overall length gut it's less than 3'. I'm also having an AR "pistol" built that I would like to stow away from time to time.

I'd be tempted to see if you couldn't fab a mount behind the passenger rear seat as the cubby is larger on that side. Potentially cut and extend the cubby for the barrel and use the shelf as a base for some form of stock mount? I'm just spitballing but it sounds like it could work. It would not be super accessible but completely concealed.

Search. I know I have a solution that I've posted a few times as have others. A new thread along these lines seems to surface monthly and fewer of the people who contributed the first dozen times contribute each time thereafter.

I still haven't seen anything I like. I don't want to mount on the roof because of head room and visibility and I'm definitely not mounting in the rear window. I am looking for a behind the rear seat, in a double cab, locking rifle mount. I have already taken the plastic out from behind the seats and I'm searching for the right material to make a custom rack. I was wondering if anyone else has done this.

Mine is mounted to my roof. It doesn't interfere w/headroom or visibility as it tucks up high enough you can't even see it from outside the truck. There was a guy that had a shotgun and some hatchets and stuff behind the seats in a double cab. Another guy was selling molle panels for the same area and you can do all sorts of things then. I just think you need to search around more as there's been lots of conversations about exactly this. The more threads we start about the same topic the more fragmented the conversation which makes it difficult for others searching for the same information.

^ Check out Ostrichsak's build as his rifle rack is fantastic. If my AR were not a monster I would really like to have it mounted like that. As he mentioned it is 100% accessible and not really visible from outside the truck.

    La riots Truck Driver.: http://youtu.be/ZOXcHEMiHr4

Not sure if that will work on my phone but its the first few minutes of the LA Riots. One good man with an AR may have been able to stop the whole thing. Even a handgun like the Glock 19 I carry would have been sketchy.

I have one of the Rossi youth model combo's (.22 and 20 gage) where the barrels take down and all three pieces fit in a bag. I haven't measured the bag exactly but I'm pretty sure it will fit in the longer underseat compartment.

Cost not much over $100 so I plan to use it as a full time truck gun for the woods when I retire in the next couple years. Can't do it now due to job site restrictions.
