So this last weekend I replaced my front rotors (due to warpage) & pads picked up from from Toyota. I also got rear shoes because I figured that being I have almost 140,000 miles on the original rears, they will probably need to be replaced too. I was shocked to see that they have over half life left on them. Now, I don't carry much in the bed, so would that be the reason they've lasted so long?? How many miles have you guys gotten on your rear brakes, & is it normal to get this many miles on the rear shoes??
    Thanks guys!

Did you install a brake relocation bracket ? if not then thats why because your brakes were never being used haha Mine were the same way, just cleaned them then adjusted em and truck stops much easier and no nose dive now

Which direction does your truck travel when you're driving it?

    Yeah.
Maybe not the same, but my old '92 had 130K on it when I finally decided to change the rear shoes, same story. The original shoes seemed to have almost as much as the new replacement ones. Just cleaned stuff up and put it back together.

your front does like 70-80% of your braking, so your rears dont get much wear.

A lot of people forget that they're self adjusting but you have go in reverse and slam on the brakes to get them right

I noticed the same thing the rears last 4 ever, now I actually manually adjust them as a maintenence plan,I had my hardware wear out before my rear brakes did a truck or two ago so after around 2 front brake jobs I throw rear shoes at it with a hardware kit..

~125k and still on factory rears. believe last inspection rated them at least a 4. I usually never carry weight in the bed (at least not a large amount) so the rears don't wear as the bpv is still factory. I've contemplated getting a bracket to engage it more but, eh

my understanding was you didn't have to do this anymore (I have an '04 though)
