Need settings help for Tuneit!

Aloha! I had an alpine cde-154 head unit and an 8" sound ordinance sub installed and alpine has an app called tuneit that allows a user to control, um, everything.

I'm a noob and have little grasp of how to tune my system. I will try to load some photos of my settings. If any of you audio experts can give advice I will be grateful!

Thought the TuneIt app had a feature that would auto-calibrate based on your specific vehicle. No? With as popular as Tacomas are I can't believe they wouldn't have specs for it.

 

i personally believe in "adding by subtracting"

by that i mean that when EQing you should not equalize above 0. take away louder bands to make quieter frequencies louder. then adjust your gains up to compensate.

by adjusting over 0 you invite clipping because you are boosting the signal above reference, in my experience.

 

Thanks for the reply! They have some for tacos, but not for DC with an 8 inch sub. Well, since I shared my setting above with the community they now have one, at least.

There are many for similar set ups to mine but I want to learn to play with them.

This is sound advice, no pun intended.

 

i recommend you increase the slopes of your crossover to reduce interactions between your speakers. 6dB slopes work well in home audio designs when all of the speakers are equidistant from the listener, but it typically causes havoc in a car environment due to the various speaker distances and reflections.

i personally run 24dB HP slopes on all of my speakers, but you could probably get away with 12dB. if your mids start to sound like they're being stressed with bass at high volumes, then increase the slope.

So I increased the slopes to 24 and there is a noticeable difference. Things just sound cleaner.

i'm glad it worked out. it may sound like you're losing some bass, but you will gain a lot in volume. it also greatly reduces the likelihood of you blowing a speaker.

 

i have the alpine hd148bt HU and have yet to get the android app to link up with the HU via my Nexus 7.

waiting on the tech at Alpine to get a hold of a Nexus 7 to see if he can get it working. :/
