I've seen a few tacos with electrical outlets (I think it's related to the 400w inverter mod). Does anyone have a DIY on how to do this? Thanks

Same one I used. The one thing you may consider is adding a disconnect somewhere. I didn't think about it when I did mine, but if I need to remove my center console, I will have to undo the wires.

I also ran one into the footwell area on the passenger side.

Which outlet did you use? If you have a part number and a source that would be great.

What happen to the awesome write up on TW for the inverter mod? I can't seem to find it.

I believe it disappeared. I went looking for it as well when OP posted this thread.

Really, any low profile outlet you find at Lowes or Home Depot will work. I used one that also had an integrated safety so things to get stuck in there by accident.

It's an easy mod to do. Some tips :

    - Plan to have a disconnect. I used screw caps (peckerheads) and tape. But currents are low enough (120V@400w= 4ish amps) most any plug/socket will work.

    - Get some wire loom. The path under the console goes through the metal support and that support is not deburred very well. Vibration+sharp metal = fun times.

    - Do the 400W anytime mod, also. (there used to be a nice thread here on TW with great pictures... Where'd that go?)

    - Have fun.

I have an SR5 with the tow package. So it does not have the outlets in the bed. What steps are involved to add those? Is it cost effective. Can I add the ones in the bed and do a mod to add one or more in the cab also? Thanks.

I don't believe you have a stock inverter in that case. So, the easiest, most straightforward way would be to buy a 12v inverter with outlets and wire that up.
