99 base tacoma 14" rims, ac and automatic- no other options or frills .
it has that horrible toyota alarm that automatically sets and you must put the key in the igntion or the alarm triggers off when doors open-key in the door lock does nothing . the brain says s1000 -their is no valet mode or remotes per owner who bought truck new, the light on dash is not a push button .
I want to be able to disable alarm like their is none in the car. I tried unplugging brain but all it did was not let the car start. is their a simple solution besides taking to an alarm shop to have them override unit .

Found this here. May could add a remote.

    http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/1...1/392728-1996-camry-vip-s1000-alarm-info.html

The alarm unit is located under the driver seat. It has two plugin style connectors.
The alarm only unlocks and locks the doors.
The remotes are Egg shaped and Black only the gray remotes don't work.
I found the magic program button on the side of the unit, mine was hidden by the Zip tie that was used to secure the alarm unit to the floor. I ordered a remote off E-Bay single button non OEM $17.
Here is how I programmed it no dealer required or having to do a jig.
    1. Put the key in the ignition and turn it on (do not start the car)
    2. Push the driver seat all the way forward.
    3. Go to the back seat behind the driver seat, and locate your alarm on the floor.
    4. Find the magical green button on the side of the VIP S1000 alarm module. (with the wire connectors facing away from you, the button was located on the right side of the alarm)
    5. Push in the green button for 2-3 seconds and release.
    6. Very important: Within 30 seconds On your remote push the Lock button. (The lights on my vehicled cycled)
    7. Go back and turn the key off and remove the key.
    8. Close all your doors on your car and test your remote!
It's that simple! got to love it![IMG]

Thanks for that! I now found my s1000 alarm module. I have a 97 Taco and I want this thing gone, as it has gone whacko and caused the the horn to run continuously twice now, only way to kill it is to disconnect the battery. I just picked this truck up from a long time family friend that warned me the alarm was skittish (he never took the key out it was so bad).

Do you happen to know how to disable the thing?

    Thanks,

Try just unplugging the alarm module. Other than that I really don't know.

I will try that tonight and post up if that worked. Dealer states they can remove the system for 2-3 hours labor, which is of course about $100 an hour.

Nope. Unplugging the module kills the ignition. I wonder if it wires up to the starter? I am swapping out the starter this weekend so will find out.
