I've always had iPhones and decided to try something different this time around. The iPhone has always worked pretty well with the radio in my truck except for a few hiccups. The radio always recognized the iPhone whether it was USB or Blu tooth.

The galaxy S5 isn't recognized by the radio, so I can't use the USB as a connection to listen to music. I can only use Blu tooth or aux. The biggest problem is I have to scroll through the phone to find what I want. With the iPhone I could scroll through the radio screen to find what I want.

Anyone else dealing with this. My wifes Acura is the same with the phone. Worked with the iPhone but not the new one. I assume it has to do with the original radio programming of which phones or devices will work with it.

My S4 connects to my 2013, I also have my old iPhone as a second music player.

Does your have the option to scroll through on the screen on the radio? Mine doesnt. All I can do is push the foward or back button to change songs. I can't scroll through music lists on the radio like I could the iphone.

I still have my iphone. I was thinking about using it as an ipod.

Come to think of it, I don't have that option either. I only used my iPhone for a week or so, I forgot that feature exists.
Works on my iPhone 4 but not on the S4. My bad, thanks for the reminder. I just use the S4 to find certain songs, throw on shuffle and bump wheel controls to change. Seems faster to find songs that way.

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably start using the iphone again for music and podcasts. That's my main issue is getting to my podcasts. Its quite difficult on the S5 while in the vehicle.

I don't have any podcasts, but one thing I liked about having the iPhone setup as my audio player and S4 as phone in the Bluetooth settings is I can keep my iPhone in the center console out of the way and could access the files easy via the head unit. I keep my phone in the cutout to the right of the shifter, usually charging. Now that I remember all of this I kinda prefer that system

Yeah, I think I'll do something similar.

I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier, but I just looked through the audio system manual. It only supports iphone and ipods.

This is a Android problem not a phone problem. No Android phone I know of will play music through the USB. I use Bluetooth for all my music needs but I also have a pioneer deck

I can use Blu tooth, but my music menu doesn't come up on the radio screen like it did with the iphone.

It's easier for the radio manufacturer to interface with iPhone/ipod because there is one format used. Android you have a hundred different makers using 5 different versions of Android that's why you see everything catered to Apple

Right. I'll just stick to using my old iPhone as an ipod.
