Got around to color matching the grill surround & rear bumper on my 2014 Tacoma TRD Offroad. For the grill I sanded it down with 400 grit, applied a tack coat of adhesion promoter, & sprayed Du Pont Chromabase with Chromaclear.

The rear bumper was sandblasted & powder coated NIC Prismatic Cherokee Bronze. The color is a little darker than Pyrite Mica, but I am very happy with the results!

    Picked up a 2014 4Runner 4x4 for the wife last weekend :)

Waiting on some goodies to arrive from All Pro: LT kit, Fox DSC 2.5, Rear Leaf Pack, Fox adjustable res 2.0, Walker Evans street locks...still deciding on tires, leaning towards Toyo Open Country AT. Had them on my 86 Toyota pickup & really liked the balance of performance on street & dirt.

Very nice, I do prefer the look of the colour matched bumpers over the chrome.

i dont mind the chrome on my silver streak mica trd or... any other color though the chrome clashes as its a drastic contrast

    That's a great match.

I actually bought a pre-painted Sport grille and had to send the first one back due to tiger-striping of the metallic.

It's funny, I wasn't a huge fan of the chrome grille on my truck (although I didn't hate it) but I really like the chrome rear bumper and the only way I'd change it is to go to something plate if mine were damaged due to a collision or rust down the road.

Thanks! I prefer the look as well.

Thanks! Yea it blends in more with silver paint, but the contrast was too much with my like, like you said.

I didn't hate how the chrome looked, I just like the look of color matching. I want to do my emblems & door handles next. Maybe some signal mirrors down the road too. Funny thing is I manufacture & sell electroplating lines :) Pretty ironic i guess.

The color match looks sweet. I want to do exactly the same thing. Was thinking about painting the rear bumper as opposed to powder coating. The reason is thinking about touch up later. Subbing the thread to see how it holds up for you. Thanks!
