I'm taking a trip with my wife from Los Angeles to Denver September 7th-21st. I will be in CO September 12th to camp and wheel for that day, then heading to a hotel in Denver to see a Broncos game on the 14th. If anyone knows of any good places to camp/wheel close to the I-70 (for sake of our route and schedule) please let me know. And if anybody is close and would like to go wheelin please let me know. Thank you.

There is Shrine Pass right off I70. Exit at the rest top at the top of Vail Pass and follow the signs. Lots of Sid e trails to explore. There is also a bunch of trails a short drive off I70 towards Breckenridge (Boreas Pass) or Keystone/Montezuma (Websters Pass, Deer Creek, St Johns). Check the weather ahead of time as mid-September the snow will start flying especially at those altitudes (most of the trails in these areas are all above 10,000ft and go above tree line. Check out traildamage.com for trail info (directions, GPS coordinates, maps, descriptions, trail reports). You will probably find a number of trails there you can get to within a short distance of I70. I just listed the ones I am have done. I am sure there are more out towards Grand Junction and some closer to Denver.

Right on man! Thanks so much. That's a lot of great info. I'll definitely have to check out some of those trails. We at suppose to stay at Grand Mesa National Park but I haven't decided yet whether I'll try to find some trails there or if I'm gonna go further east and check out some other spots. Thanks for the info man!
