Hey guys, I got my URD Maf Cal about 2 weeks ago and haven't installed it yet because it came as a blank. I have been talking with Gadget about a map for my set up which he can provide but I just have yet to receive it. I don't want to sound impatient but Id like to install it already with a map on it, and I don't want to keep nagging him if he is busy and all. I figure I ask if anyone has the map for the Stock intake on hand that they could send via email, if not no worry, either way I just hope to get the map. I am running LCE Header, Aero 2525, Stock intake with drop in filter and secondary removed. Don't got the time to be going to shop locally for them to tune it for me. Thanks

Did you get the one with the plug and play harness? If you did, does the harness match the wiring on your truck?

No I didn't buy the harness didn't feel like paying that much for the harness though it would be a cleaner install. I'm sure it would fit though my truck is a 2008 and I believe the ecu plugs changed after 2009 right or 2010.

    Thanks for the reply... :)
I'm still considering one with the harness if I knew for certain it would physically fit the wiring pin configuration on my 2012 2.7. Information on fitment is really thin to nonexistent.

Do you know if you ran the URD with no map, the stock map would still be in play? The map is only for open loop. The rest of the time your ECU and O2 sensors are determining your A/F ratio.

Would this have any benefit to a stock engine in terms of MPG/power if it is only being used when the engine is in open loop?

Speaking of open loop. I just now called Gadget and he was very helpful and informative. :)

He set me straight on some really wrong ideas I had about the ECU and MAF system. He said that even under wide open throttle, the fuel metering system remains operating in closed loop, and only above 4,500 rpms does it go into open loop. Here's one of my dyno charts so you can actually see what he's talking about.

He said that their URD MAF controller can't do anything for the engine below 4,500 rpms because the closed loop fuel trims are operating.

Just to be clear, this was my mistake. I had assumed that under wide open throttle, the system went into open loop regardless of rpms... when in reality it does not.

Bottom line, the MAF controller is not capable of doing what I thought it could do. It cannot affect a closed loop condition and that closed loop condition is in operation all of the time under 4,500 rpms... regardless of throttle position or engine load.

Wow... what an eye opener.

URD has a map for the stock intake on the 2TR Tacoma.

That should of been programmed into the unit before it shipped. I can either email you the map or you can send the unit back and we can flash it in and send it back to you.

Contact URD one way or the other.

I guess to me, I'm missing the point of having this on the 4-cylinder unless you are looking for only having it for the very narrow top-end power band before redline.

So what would be the practical application for this and the 4 Cylinder? Racing only if combined with the supercharger?

This makes me think twice about buying one.
