    Greetings,

I just purchased a "new to me" Tacoma and got her some new shoes. I went from the stock tire size 265/70/R16 to a 265/75/R16. They have aggressive tread and I am having a hard time getting the spare to fit underneath. I can get it snug but the tread from the tire sits up against the bracket attached to the rear diff that holds the brake line. Has anyone else had any problems with this?

before i did the frame box from trail gear I was able to fit a 285/75r16 in there gust need to cut off the part of the rail that sits vertically. if you pull tire down there will be 4 bolts (12mm if i remember right) that hold the arms that the tire sits on to the frame. remove these and cut the ends off and reassemble.

Yes and no. My last truck I pulled them down and beat them straight and it was okay. Fit a 255/75-17 or whatever those MTs from the Rubicon are. Anyway, eventually I noticed that the tire would slide back and forth all of the time and I was worried that it would get too close to the leaves like that.

New truck for the time being, until I add the swing out to my D-Cab, I re-drilled the hole through the cross-member and moved the brackets a little further outboard of stock, that seems to be working for now, but the metal is thin and it will probably break soon.

I pulled the 'frame box' completely off about 10yrs ago to accommodate larger tires and just snugged up the tire raising/lowering cable w/o any problems.
I fit a 255/85/R16 Cooper Discover ST spare up there.
