    Hi all,
I recently purchased this '01 Tacoma and didn't realize when I bought it that it already had a SAS. Any help identifying which diff I have so I can buy some parts would be appreciated. This Toyota newbie had no clue that it wasn't stock until after I purchased it for a 'daily driver'. A clue pointing me in the right direction would be great, as I need a yoke for pinion shaft and several other parts.

That front cover is not a Dana 30 on the OPs truck. Wrong bolt pattern on the cover.

Ya, it's a pretty scary driver right now. The u joint on front drive shaft was literally ready to fall out, so I took it off until new ones show up. The tie rod ends are also shot, so I just drive my F350 until it's fixed.

So best guess is its a Dana 44 out of a wrangler?

I gave under 5k for it, but I wish I'd have done more research first, I'm feeling a money sinkhole coming.

If you really want to know what make this Dana came from, check the long side axle tube for the bill of material number. The number is stamped in and about a 1/4" tall. Will look like "605XXX-XX". The BOM will tell you the OEM and the original ratio.

I was pretty sure that was a d30 at first because of the thin housing, till Bamatoy pointed out the bolt pattern. Most likely a d44, but I would ditch that thing as soon as you can, pretty scary... Looks to me like the steering arms are all rusted out too.
