fuel door problems,2011 tacoma

I have a 2011 Tacoma,sr5 with the dam fuel door hanging off the side,the 2 clips holding it on broke off,what a poor set up,i thought I could just buy the part that bolts to the truck with the clips on it but was told that I had to buy the whole kit,WTF,there is no kit,the dam thing bolts to the truck by itself,why should I have to buy another fuel door,gas cap etc just to get the part that I need,the fuel door doean't even come painted,what bull shit,the service manager at the closest dealer to me said that,the clips are breaking on quite a few tacomas,anybody else have the same problem or a quick fix,cheaper than buying what they call a kit,thanks
