That is the seat pressure/weight sensor. One of the most common points to fail. It is the most accesable.

I don't understand why they pulled the driver air bag when the codes showed the issue under the seat.

Is this paid for by Toyota? Seems to me that the safety system would be under warrenty for quite some time.

The normal fee for just hooking up the Techstream program is around $80. Is the rest labor and a new sensor?

Well, from what you typed it would seem clear that they cleaned the harness on the drivers side airbag and recalibrated the system. Performing a re-calibration requires the use of a TechStream and a little bit of time in front of the computer screen monitor. Cleaning the airbag harness is fairly simple as they blew air through the harness to remove the accumulated dust. The fact that the tech didn't take it on a test drive is a little concerning to me but overall this is just the normal routine of resetting an SRS light from a minimal rear end collision.

The fee for hooking up a TechStream in my area is $165... Remember that labor and diagnostic fees are usually demographic based.

That's the first I heard of that. That's what I've been asking about for a couple days now, what could cause this. Now I know, based on your response, that it's not out the normal to have the system reset when you get ass-ended.

I see nothing on my work order that says they replaced anything.

When you have a slow speed impact in the front or rear of the vehicle you can get a dtc like this, B1785; Front Occupant Classification Sensor LH Collision Detection and well all that you need to do is perform a zero point calibration and sensitivity check to make sure the weight sensor in the seat is working properly.

Ever since getting the truck back from the dealership, I hear noise from somewhere back by where the steering wheel column goes thru the firewall, off to the left of that area a bit. The sound is hard to describe, but it sounds like maybe something rubbing or rolling around. It's not happening all the time, but seems to be exaggerated when braking, slowing down, coming to a stop.

I reached up and under that area to see if it may a wire or connector was rubbing up against something, etc and found this wire with that piece of wire conduit on it. If I rub that against some of the things under there, it makes a similar noise to what I've been hearing.

Here's my question............ anyone know what this connector is for and what it connects to? I was surprised to see it was disconnected when I pulled on it to see what is was. Like I said, this is the connector end and it has that plastic tube wire channel/conduit on it. From what I can feel, it goes in the direction of my brake controller. Could this be my break controller wire that either came detached in the accident or by the tech troubleshooting the SRS light issue?

Tough question. The harness is all over the cab, under the seat, steering column, a pillar,b piller, combined with the seat belt wiring with the retractor.

Any wiring that is bright yellow is part of the SRS. These wires are all over our trucks.

Thanks. I'm just trying to figure out when the dealer says "Started from removing dust and debris from driver's side air bag harness....", exactly where were they messing around in the truck doing this?

When you say under the steering column, all those wires would be yellow too? It's in this general area that I'm hearing this noise I've mentioned.
