    Hopefully the right forum:

So I just decided after 120K miles to have rear, front, and transfer case fluids exchanged for the first time in my 2005 DC 4x4 (by a small shop). Shortly after this I started noticing a strange noise almost like a tire rub with a faint metallic grinding like noise too, especially when turning the wheel to the left and travelling slow. Took it back to the shop and they pointed out my CV boots were bad. I had the CV boots/axles replaced with OEM parts but I still have the noise. They also pointed out that there was a lot of grease/build up on the parts from the following pictures (I am ignorant but assume these are steering components):

    What should I do?

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
In the first pic in front of the wheel weight is a paper tag with the number 26 on it; that is the brake backing plate. Get under there and with your fingertips attempt to bend it slightly inward (left in the pic) I bet it's rubbing on your disc brake rotor.

Thanks for the suggestion, tried it but didn't seem to do anything. I just had my wife drive it and I listened outside of the truck and the noise is actually coming from the rear. Like I said I just had all the differential fluids changed, and mine has a lsd sticker on it. I have read threads where jiffy lube type shops are bad at putting the wrong fluids in, if the lsd additive isn't in there could that be making my noise?

After some TW research, I determined it was the rear diff chatter (I have the lsd diff). Went and got some additive from oreilly auto parts, had the shop that changed my fluids put the 4 oz in, and chatter went away immediately! Relieved for sure

I'm glad you fixed it! If the shop forgot additive maybe it's time to find another shop.
