Alright guys so I was headed into work this morning and have to get on the breaks a little bit, when I hit the gas agian the truck seemed to lag it revved up and wanted to jump. It's done this before but I've never thought anything of it. When I got back on the gas it would not shift into OD it wanted to stay at 3k-3500rpm. It's done this twice before, both time I just stopped and turned the truck off and then started it back up and everything was fine but no luck this time. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Truck is a 05 4.0 v6

Along with Jimmy,s reply , You have a code reader ?
could be a short in the wiring for the brakes , If the ecm thinks the brakes are on , you get no overdrive .There are a number of reasons for jumping or revving up . Scanning or reading the parameters is about the best way to diagnose the problem because it should take all the guess work out of the problem .
Whats the mileage ? have you had the trans serviced ?

Think the breaks only drop the lockup. A code reader might turn some thing up, bum shift solenoid?
