Been awhile since I been on this forum, so here goes.
Yesterday, on my day off, decided to spent it with my boys. Took one to go watch guardians of the galaxy ( very good flick by the way ), then on the way to go pick up my 3yr old so we can all go swimming at the pool. I get rear ended on a 3 lane frontage road at a light. My stepson and I were fine so I hit the hazard lights and continued to get off the rd, park and assess the damage. As I get out, it was a late model nissan altima or maxima dark grey with noticeable damage to his hood, bumper and what looked like radiator fluid leaking but too far to make out the plate. I turn to look at my rear bumper for damage, as I turned around to approach the other car, HE TAKES OFF! GONE! I just don't get people these days, the nerve. I was more in a state of shock to even think of chasing him or her down.

My rear bumper/ball hitch was pushed in, dent and scratch to bumper. Just sucks that happened when I was just trying to spend a good day off with my family.

Glad you and your stepson are ok. What did the cops say? Maybe the traffic cameras got him if there are any at that intersection.

It crossed my mind but I didn't bother calling the cops. Figured at that point it was a lost cause. I thought about the cameras but it happened right underneath an underpass of the highway. May or not been in range of the camera.

I appreciate it. I'll let ya know. I may use this excuse to get an off-road bumper now.

Call the police, report it....that car that rearended you will probably needs some extensive repairs, maybe more than what a backyard mechanic can fix...they can followup with the local body shops and may actually catch the culprit..

A hit and run in SA? No way! Say it isn't so! lol, I've been to a lot of one car scenes of two car collisions. When I got bumped last year I got into pursuit mode... just waiting for the guy to try and take off. But, clearly seeing he was outmatched, he got out and exchanged info. lol

My wife was hit from Behind getting off 37 to 35 and the sob insurance had lapsed. So now we need a new rear bumper. It's tweaked and pushed up on one side. Also looking at it closer the driver side rear is also tweaked just enough that the plastic fender cover looks like it's coming off.
So now we need a new black bumper for a 13 .

happened to me on my motorcycle a few years ago. The idiot that pulled out in front of me ran from the accident that he caused. My insurance paid the whole bill. Cops still have a description of the car. I am sure the owner stripped it by now. Witnesses all gave their description as I was hauled away in an ambulance.
All states need to enforce the insurance laws. The only reason someone would run is if they do not have insurance...or they were drinking. Passing a law does not insure it will happen.

I am glad you and your family were not hurt.

FWIW, Dallas won't even prosecute hit & run collisions... there are that many of them.

    I'm glad y'all weren't hurt.
