Please forgive my ignorance as I have read a plethora of threads regarding the spacer & 5100 topic but have a slightly different matter then what I have found. Currently I have a 2005 Tacoma TRD Sport a (Pro installed) Toytec 2.5'' lift kit with front spacers and washers where needed (2'' and 1/2'') and AAL. I have bought Billstein 5100 Adjustable and intend to install them this week with my stock coils. I intend to keep about the same lift height overall but want more off road capability and better long term sustainability on my truck. My question is this.

What would the result be if I install the 5100's at the 1.85 setting and take out only the 2'' spacer, leaving the 1/2'' spacer. I ask this only because it seems the 5100's are a bit stiff at the 2.5'' setting. Would this setup have my intended result without risking damage to the other front end components.

Any comments are greatly appreciated. Also any comments regarding the 5100's at 2.5'' setting by themselves with the Sport coils rather then the off road (It sounds like the Sports are much better but I would still like to hear how stiff they are at the 2.5'' setting.)

    THANKS

UPDATE: INSTALLED AND RIDING GREAT, No issues at all, top spacer seems just fine and Billies at 1.75 setting has a solid ride/smoother than the original toytec spacer setup

So, it ended up with about 2.75" of lift?? I have thought about doing this myself. Do you know the alignment numbers??

Yep ended up about 2.5-.75'', Sorry I dont have the alignment #'s but it is about the same height as previous with just the leveling kit. Dropped slightly but nominal

Good for you! I have a couple questions. First, you removed the 2" spacer from both sides but left the 1/2" space on the driver side for lean and Billies @ 1.75 Correct??

Next, what size tires are you running?

    Thanks

I left the 1/2'' spacer on both sides. No lean issues that I can see or feel. I am running 285s with very minimal rub. Only happens when turning mid reverse. Otherwise all good.
