Anyone know where to buy or how to make some windshield brackets for a 1997 2 door Tacoma. I am looking at putting a Rigid 50" light bar across the top of windshield and I am having trouble finding mounts.

    Thanks for any help.

Ok figured I'd write this up for all you guys that are unaware of the lack of mount options for us 1st gens. Might not be too in depth.. But this is what I've learned from my own experience and others.
They don't make any for 95-04. You have two options.
    1) Fab your own up
    2) Buy some for another vehicle application, take some rough measurements, and make it work. They're gonna be expensive.
3)Find someone on here who is producing some that are somewhat universal for certain length bars. I'm not sure anyone on here is actually taking orders but still designing them. You'll have to look. If I find any I'll post it up here.
#1 is gonna be the least expensive. Even if you find someone to fab them up for you. It'll take some thought and creativeness to figure em out depending how you want to mount it.
And if you do #2, you need to take some measurements on your roof where about you want your light to sit. And depending on where about your light will end on each side, take a look and see if it will line up with the top of the door jam. Or down a bit on the angled frame on the side of the windshield. Then look up mounts to purchase and find one that looks like it will work. Have a friend help you hold the light in place above your windshield and test fit it by holding the brackets in place. If it doesn't work then just send them back for a refund.
I've seen guys do this before. You just need to make sure they'll work.

For example these might work. So take a measurement of door jam to door jam, accounting for the slight angle in the mounts. And see if it'll work. These ones are nice as they bolt onto the rain gutter in the door jam. Others you have to drill into the side of the cab through the roof under the headliner and it's a total bitch. And, these brackets are $200.

I fabbed up my own for $0. But I had my brother weld them for me. Whom also has all the tools that I needed. I did the cutting and grinding and powdercoating myself.
50" is a little too big imo. I got a 42" and it fit on top with about an inch to spare on each side using door jam mounts. So they had to be inset/angled an inch to account for the shorter length. So I'm guessIng it's gonna be close to 50". Maybe 46/47" from door jam to door jam. Yours may be different than my '01. Maybe you'll get lucky and it'll bolt right up. If it turns out it's too long then you may have to fab brackets on the sides of the windshield. Or ones that extend outwards an extra inch or so on the roof instead if in, like mine.
    Good luck.
