As the title suggests, I'm interested in if this is possible. I have another person looking into this, but thought I'd ask here.

    1. Does anyone know for sure?
    2. If it can be done, is the Tacoma or FJ fit kit needed?
    3. Really stupid question - with the ECU reflash, will it still net an additional 60hp and additional torque, or is the reflash somehow limited to the 295hp or so as with the Taco and FJ? It won't be worth it to me to go from 270hp to 295hp in a 4Runner.

I'd love to have a URD, but not sure if/when that will be available.

Any other thoughts, insight, and criticism will be welcome.

    Thanks.

TRD doesn't make a supercharger for the 4Runner anymore. They haven't made one since the 4th generation 4Runner.

I realize that, but if the fit kit for the FJ or Taco will mate up to the 4Runner, it should, SHOULD work. I hope.

No it does not. The Taco, FJ and 4Runner each have different engine bay designs including the front support bar. The fit kit comes with a new support front bar to mount the bosch water pump, hoses, clamps, new relocating mounts for the transmission cooler, mounting brackets for the coolant resevoir, pre cut electrical lines and relay mounts and the proper mounting for the thermal exchange core (radiator) to name the most important.

And the most important piece, i believe the 4runner 1GR is dual vvti and the ecu flash wouldnt be compatible. in fact it will retard your motor on the new 4runner.

    Well, damnit!

I can build up another Taco with a SC. I do a lot go highway driving, and without the SC, the engines in both the Taco and 4Runner are way too anemic…off-road, they're fine. I just can't stand being in a vehicle on the highway that is that slow and unresponsive.

Maybe I'll end up waiting a another couple of months to see what happens to URD.

    Thanks.

There is a TRD SC in the works for the 5th gen 4runner. When or if it will ever come up for sale is something we are all wondering.
But if it ever does, my wife's T4r will have one.

Interesting to know. Are you sure this is in development? If so, I too will snatch one up ASAFP.

You get used to the torque and power of a supercharger, and then everything else is largely a disappointment…in the truck/SUV world that is.

    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
Check with Gadget at URD (urdusa.com) to see if they have on in development...

Three new TRD "Pro" vehicles to be released @ Feb 6th or so…Taco, Tundra, 4Runner. The guy I spoke with said all will have factory SC. Not sure if that's true…but it's what I was told.
