I bought my 2013 Access Cab TX Baja in July of last year brand new for 31k.

Story of purchase, sorry for the length ! :

I bought a 2010 Scion XB in '09 from a dealer in New Jersey recommended by a friend who bought his TC there a year before. Loved my XB. Modded the crap out of it, so reliable and comfortable to drive.

Anyway, 4 years later, more money to spend and growing need for more room for my hobbies and 4x4 capability (at the time I commuted to work at 3am before the plows even got out) I decided to finally give into my love for Toyota trucks.

I loved the TX Baja since its release. I spent all my life dumping my cars to the ground on coils and air bags, I didn't know the first thing about lifting a truck. A lift from factory that could be financed? Perfect deal to me.

The dealership I dealt with on both purchases blew my mind how little they new about TRD and scion release series, or anything like that.

So when I went asking about a TX Baja in 2013, they INSISTED it was '12 only. Every time I said otherwise, the stuck to it.

My brother was looking at Tacomas couple months later, and asked me to ride to the dealer with him. Figured why not, I'll see what they have on the lot.
Walked past a couple of TRD Sports with a big smile, some sweet truck they have. THEN I SEE IT.

Theres a truck wrapped fully in plastic can't tell the color or what it is. Only thing you could see was the Grey TRD beadlocks. Just looked at my brother like, dude its a baja... I have to get this. Told the guy I was interested, rip the plastic off. Gorgeous black AC tx baja, with NO giant BAJA graphic. Just the Trd decal on tailgate and TX BAJA series on the sides, but no ugly dirty huge graphic. AWESOME

Now as a result of that missing decal, the dealer insisted it was a just a Tacoma off road edition. After haggling and their great interest in my XB with very low miles as a trade, I got my TX BAJA for 31k on the nose. When I was signing for the coverage in the side room, the dealer told everyone inside the situation, how I thought I was getting something I wasn't and was happy about it. And told the salespeople on the floor how the BAJAs are clearly indicated with the massive can't miss graphic.

I HAVE NO CLUE why there was no graphic added to mine from factory (would've peeled it anyway!), but I walked away paying 31k for a TX BAJA with 4 miles on it. 4! I didn't bother arguing anymore it was a BAJA, I was thrilled with my deal. Can't recommend the Baja enough. I've since moved to North Carolina with it, and welded on some sliders.

Sorry for rambling but I just hoped that helped in any way. I know I'm very blessed for the price I had payed, and don't want to sound like I'm bragging about the deal that happened to me. But I hope at best this make you able to truthfully tell your dealer you know someone who payed that price for a new one.

I just think thats too high for preowned. For those miles (not that they're high by any means) most I'd pay is 29k which isn't at all unreasonable for this great truck. But hey thats why I knew I'll only buy new when it comes to these trucks. Hold there value like no other and dealers mark them so dang close to brand new.

GOOD LUCK! Hope you're driving the truck your looking for soon man!

    Not enough...
Its a $38K truck. $31K with 8800 miles sounds reasonable.

Seems reasonable I guess. Problem is that neither KBB nor NADA has a way to actually price the Baja edition. I feel like $29,5k or $30k would be better. Especially in light of the fact that it doesn't have the Navi or JBL.

We'll see what happens this weekend.....

I'm pretty sure access cab tx baja is more like 34,000.

Also, Being that's it's not an ordinary truck, more specifically that it's designed to go offroad, you never know how aggressively the previous owner drove and what kind of wheeling they did, only to trade it in the following year. I've seen plenty people drive the crap out of their new ride because they had every intention of trading it for the next faster more capable new car. For that reason I personally would get the the dealer to move further away from the msrp of a new one.
