spare tire ???

    I am a DC with stockers at the moment. They are the 16 inch wheels that came on my 4x4 TRD. I want to go to a 17 inch wheel but I was talking to a guy at work and he said if i go up an inch I cannot use my 16 wheeled spare. Is this true?? I wouldn;t plan on driving around on it for long periods of time but in a emergency i would like to still have a functional spare.

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    As a "Spare" or Temporary tire, your fine. I have used a tire 2" smaller as a spare before. If you have an LS rear, use the spare tire on the front only. Personally, I have used 3 different tires on my truck, and at the same time, to get home in the past with no ill affects.

    the tires would have to be the same size or else one is going to try to make more rotations than the other, and you will not be able to use 4x4. however temporarily, youre fine

    Have you ever seen the "donuts" some passenger cars have... it's like a shopping cart wheel for your car... If they can run a smaller wheel for a spare, I'm sure you can too. However, they are used to get you to a repair shop and not a permanent fixture for your car. :D
