So my old engine doesn't hold compression and I'm getting a new engine with 0 miles on it. These are a few things i was thinking of throwing on the engine while its out. Any comments/suggestions/opinions will be much appreciated. Don't really want to take the new engine apart to install parts so nothing too crazy.

    Going with OEM
    -water pump, radiator, radiator hoses

    Aftermarket parts
-silicone vacuum hoses (maybe silicone radiator hoses)
    -LCE headers
    -LCE (OEM basically..) injectors
    -Bamatoy's electrical upgrade w/ 140 amp alternator
-LCE underdrive crank pulley (i think it will pair well with the high output alternator, probably won't get the electric fan? should i?)
    -Yellow top battery
    -Few misc sensors

    Eventually later on
-TRD supercharger (low boost cause CALI)
-some kind of air intake kit.

Well it says it's new.. But I guess that probably means remanufactured. Not rebuilding my old engine. Not getting a 40-50k jdm

I installed a low mileage (69k) 3.4L v6 from a salvage yard into my 04 taco. I also replaced all the maintance and tune up items while it was on the engine stand. I also replaced the oil cooler hoses and clutch while the engine was out. My motor mounts still looked good so i left them alone, but check yours because now is the time to replace them if need be. I also applied dioelectric grease to all my wiring connections while it was out to protect against moisture.

I think I would use the 01-04 3rz exhaust manifold to avoid any low end torque loss with a header design. You can probably get it cheaper than the LCE header to boot. Long tube headers are designed for top end horse power, and without significant modification, you will just lose bottom end with that. IF it were a Tri-Y, maybe worth it, but stock is almost a header in design, but with enough back pressure to create decent torque from that little motor. You probably get more horses from the electric fan mod really. The early manifolds would crack and need replaced, but the newer ones are great.

Hmm do you think it will be super noticeable on the low end? I know once I get all the weight I want on this triWhat if I put the SC would it make a difference if I went LCE vs 01-03 manifold?

    Thanks for input everyone.

I would go with the 01-03 unless you plan on driving WOT all the time. The low end is going to be more useful for every day driving.

Hmm good point alright I'll probably be going w/ the 01-03 manifold then. Thanks. Probably saved me a couple hundred lol. U think I would gain anything from the 01-03 manifold vs. my manifold?
