Hi, I am currently driving a 2012 GMC Sierra Z71 ECSB but am looking to possibly downsize to a newer Tacoma. I actually owned an 03 TRD 5 speed 3.4 years ago. I'm 6'2' and that truck was just too damn small, got horrible mpg and had NO power at all for towing much of anything.

This is my question...who actually tows anything with the 05+ style truck? I tow two long track snowmobiles often in the winter in a 2 place enclosed trailer and also tow a full weight 68 Camaro to the dragstrip (hour and a half each way) on an 18" open trailer. I know the Tacoma is rated (barely) to tow this weight. Have people done that on here? I'm most concerned with braking and not being a hazard to others on the road. The truck I want would be a 4.0 access cab TRD off road, auto or stick wouldn't matter.

keep the truck you have. tacoma does all right for towing utility trailers lighter campers, but I wouldnt pull a car on a trailer very far. fuel mileage wont be any better then you have now. I traded my tacoma for the f150 ecoboost supercab, and is better all the way around for me.
