Guys bare with me as I am no mechanic and I realize just about every other day someone starts a topic of "whats this clunking sound?"
I have a 2008 TRD Tacoma DCSB, I don't know if its a bushing problem, but everytime I turn my truck begins making a "popping" sound under fender wells. I just recently replaced my driverside wheel bearing assembly and driver side CV axel. Has anyone experienced this? I wish I had a video to post, so others can hear the problem. I have used the search link but didn't find anything. If someone can chime in or point me in the right direction I would be appreciative!

When you turn it left, right or Both??

Also, Find a long wall , i.e., Back side if a supermarket. One that you can next to and quite long. Drive back and forth ( one side to the wall at a time) - Drive Straight - and see if you hear the noise. Then CAREFULLY do it again and see if you can get the noise to happen with slight turning - Right left then repeat with the other side of the truck against the wall. Do this slowly and a helper walking along the side of the truck may help to isolate the side/location.

Also, some dumb stuff to check ... Wheels hitting anything since you were in there doing repairs ( Mud flaps, etc.). Check your inner wheel wells to be sure they are not loose or shifting/ loose bolts, Lugs/wheel nuts, Wheel is fully seated .....

Post you results for others and maybe we can help you ....

thank you canufixit, for the quick reply. I makes the noise when turning either way, it was their before the wheel bearing and cv axle repair job. I'll try doing the noise identification technique you suggested.

This might sounds stupid, but.... I had the same similar popping sound.

Check your mud flaps - where the mud flap plastic meets the body.

Mine were broken/ripped/separated the whole length but still rigid. They'd create a popping sound when the plastic moved and got caught on itself.

Don't have any mud flaps. I'll be honest, I don't know what a ball joint is, but by God I'm gonna find out! Search button here I come. Seriously, I appreciate your guys responses, Im gonna look into the ball joint and see where its located then have a friend try to identify its location while I turn the wheel.
