I have a Hero 3+ and record at 1080p. When I download the video to my computer it looks great. But, when I put it on this site or youtube, it usually downgrades to 480p. I don't know what happens, I can change it to 1080p on the settings button on youtube but it isnt' near as quality a picture as in my pictures library.

Why are you posting this on the tacoma forum? There are gopro forums out there...

Anyway ill answer your question cuz im pretty sure i know. The hero 3 recording in 1080p creates a MASSIVE file. even an older microSD card cant handle the size and doesnt work properly in the gopro. My 4 year old macbook pro (its nice, but getting kinda old) cannot play the video properly because the file size is too large. the video is all choppy and stuff. Youtube will automatically downgrade the file size to save space in their servers.

    ya know?

Like I said in my first post, the video looks great when I download it to my computer. It changes from 1080p to 480p when I put it on youtube or TW.

There are also guys on this forum that have gopro cameras, that's why I posted the question on the forum.

Because not everyone has an internet speed capable of watching 1080p streaming video, YouTube automatically sets it to their standard of 480, unless you change something in the settings when you upload it. (I can't remember what the setting is ATM) This allows everyone to stream a video and watch it, but if they are capable of streaming at a higher speed, they can select that option. If you upload to YouTube and link it on TW, it still uses the YouTube settings, that is why on TW the video is at a lower resolution. My home internet speed is not the best, and because of that I cant watch any videos that are 1080p unless I give it a good 15 minutes to load. It is the way YouTube sets it so that EVERYONE can enjoy a video. It is NOT A GoPro camera problem.
