Just thought I should write a little review regarding Bill, and his business Marion Bumper2Bumper.

I first showed interest in Bill's 250A alternators' about 4 months ago, and asked him a question via PM. He was very prompt in his response, and showed genuine interest in making sure I got what I needed to power my stereo load properly. I have plenty of 1/0ga. cable run throughout the truck, so a full kit was not needed, and he understood this, and made sure that he quickly got me a quote for an alternator only.

Fast forward to August 27, and I requested that Bill send me an invoice via paypal for purchase of one of his upgraded alternators, as mine is showing signs of death soon. He sent one within the hour, and I had to wait til the following day, to get paid, and send payment. Payment was sent on the 28th of August, and the ball was rolling.

Sept. 3, I send Bill another PM, asking if he could get me shipping confirmation or a tracking #, as he said that he was getting my alternator drop shipped to me from the manufacturer, to speed things up, and had them claim a lower dollar value on the parcel to help with customs fees (I'm in Canada). He responded within the hour, saying he'd look into it. Sept. 4, a knock on my door, and the postman hands me a heavy box, with my alternator in it. No customs fees, just "Here you go." Sweet! Open the box, and find the alternator packed very well in stiff foam blocks, cut and packed so that the alternator wouldn't get damaged in shipping. Unpacking, I find the pulley is already on the alternator, so no extra cost to me to get the pulley swapped from my old alternator to the new one. I contacted Bill, letting him know to not worry about tracking info, as it arrived one week after order. Pretty good speed for international shipping. He still sent me an email with the tracking info, about an hour after the PM I sent him. He also responded, saying it was great that it arrived so soon.

Tomorrow is the moment of truth, installation, and making sure this thing does what he says, puts out the power for my power hungry, 160A max. draw stereo. Needless to say, I'm excited, and can't wait to get this in.

In the end, Bill was most helpful, and made sure that I was happy with everything. I have no worries that the alternator will underperform, I'm sure it will do exactly what's advertised, taking the load off my battery, and making sure my truck starts and runs for years, summer and winter.

As a follow up, I installed the alternator today. Perfect fit, and great performance. At idle, playing Bass Mekanik, voltage would drop down to 12.2V. Cruising at about 14-1500rpm, voltage stayed constant at 13.2V. That's with my stereo at full crank, close to distortion, and way louder than I normally listen to it. At ilde, warm, the alternator makes 13.8V. Great performance. Install log, with pics, will be in the technical section, when I'm off the tablet, and on the computer.

 

Those 250A alternators are awesome! I have heard a lot of people who like them. I believe that when I checked a while back they stated that the 250A alternator puts out in the range of 130-150A at idle speed. So that times in with what you were talking about in post#2. I wish that it would have kept the voltage at 12.8 or better with your full crank on the stereo, but at idle speed it is difficult for a good output. I am glad you are happy with it! I am looking forward to the install thread. Hopefully lots of pictures!

 

Hey, I'm impressed with 12.2V at 560rpm. That's crazy output. And at cruise of 1500rpm, no issues at all. I love this thing, and I can finally turn it up again. I'm happy. Thanks Bill.

 

No worries, thanks. I didn't realize your idle was only at 560. I thought you were in the 700+ range at idle. Enjoy! Now get your other thread finished Dick!......or do we call you Richard? lmao

 

Yeah, I think I'm lower idle because of the SR5 option on the truck. It's not a Sport or OffRoad, so I don't have many other things to power other than the truck itself. Doesn't bother me, I'm surprised it idles so smooth down that low.

Call me Rick, Richard, Dick, whatever. I don't respond to "Hey Stupid", or "You with the face".

Put a real stress test on it today. Here in Calgary, it's snowing! So all the accessories were on full today. Heater on full blast, HID projectors on and wipers on. Stereo was playing a variety of music, including some Lil' John, and at idle of 560rpm, it would go from 11.9-12.4V. At cruise of 1500rpm, 13.5V constant. I wasn't babying it at all either. I was putting a real load on it, and it kept up no problems. IF you're wondering, should I do this, DO IT! And buy from Bill, he has a quality product. I'm happy with it, and I'm sure you will be too.
