I am up in Canada and use RustCheck annually. Its probably overkill has I usually keep my trucks for 5 years but I think it helps at trade in time. When I traded in my 08 for the 2013 I went to 2 Toyota dealers and they both asked if the truck was rust checked.

When you spray the underside of the truck do you spray everything (muffler etc.) or just the frame. Seems like you would avoid some parts of the truck.

I have no long term experience, but i'll put my $0.02 in..

I just got my '14 Taco a few weeks ago and one of the first things I did was apply Fluid Film. I would definitely avoid any of the rubberized/tar products unless applied professionally when the truck is brand new and has zero existing rust. These products can trap moisture and make the problem WORSE.

I can't really recommend Fluid Film because I just started using it, but it seems like a good product to me. I got the $80 kit. It was easy to apply and worth every penny. I did my first application very heavy and made sure to get inside all the frame rails and a-arms. I plan to touch it up and inspect later this fall for the winter in the NE.

The Fluid Film does not dry, but it doesn't drip or wash off. I have washed my truck a few times and specifically sprayed the frame rails to see what it would do. The water just beads up and rolls off, and the FF is still there. Even rubbing up against it (when I installed the power Pop&lock), the FF remained on the surface. I probably put way too much on the first time, but at least I know it will be there and seep into every gap/pore/crevice and do its thing.
