    Hello,

I have a 2011 Toyota Tacoma extra cab. I am looking for suggestion and recommendation on which type of tires to get that best match my driving preferences. The tire size is 265 65 R 17

I drive pretty fast, LOL, average 70-80 in general freeway driving, sometime up to 80-90 on long road trip. I am also looking for higher performance tires and at the same time keep the noise down. My co-worker and friends recommended either BFGoodridge or Firestone.

    Thank you in advance!

Load range E tires are potentially tougher against cuts and punctures off-road, but the ride on pavement will be very busy. These tires are also 10-15 lb heavier, so you lose 1 mpg in city driving.

If you do mostly highway driving, go for a P-metric (also known as SL or "standard load" range) All-Terrain tire. Hankook Dynapro ATM, Cooper ATP, and Toyo AT2 all perform well.

Go c range dynapro ATMs 265/70/17, they will do well with the driving style you describe. I've had the e range on my truck and the wife's 4runner has the c. Both have been good to us.

I think a C load rating is better for the Tacoma. I sure like mine.

The Toyo AT2 is not quiet on the road, though.

They're a long-life, wear-resistant tire. The tread is pretty hard. I've found Toyo MTs to be quieter on the road.

The noise doesn't bother me though. These tires will last 60k+ miles.

Thank you to everyone for the many great suggestion and recommendation! I have been extremely busy at work so very sorry for late response to all of your postings.

I have yet to make up my mind on which type/brand tires to get. I would like to add that I am looking for all terrain type tires, and although I do very little off-roading, occasionally I would go fishing or camping which could take me into these areas.

I'd go for a general all terrain "Contractor's truck" style.
Think of a builder guy. Most miles on the highway, but has to get to the occasional muddy job site.

I'd agree with Hankook Dynapro atm's. My mpg was awesome with that tire on the highway
