False advertising on ebay.

So, I ordered an old TRD cold air intake, as was shown in the pictures, and the guy sends me a new model one. I hear it makes the engine run lean and throws your check engine light on. Is there any fix to that? I don't want to pay return shipping, so if I can make it work I want to.

 

Just saw a thread in2nd gen forums for lean fix with trd cold intake. Seems like for Tacoma you need to trim intake tube at 1st line on intake tube theres a http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/182129-new-trd-cold-air-intake-issue-fix.htmlvideo too. Too long so was blocking pvc and other hole in hose that mounts to throttle body Hope it works

 

yeah I saw the video. is that really all you have to do to fix it?

 

A couple of things here, if what you received was not what you ordered, full refund and return shipping on them should be insisted on, otherwise open a Paypal dispute and hold ont the CAI. Get what you ordered, or no out of pocket.

Next, I would rethink keeping the new model TRD CAI, yes its supposed to be able to be fixed, but with the new design and panel filter, I think the consensus is that its not as good as just getting an aFe Stage II Si or a URD CAI.

Assuming you are also aware that the best CAIs on the 4.0 just give you some noise and a few high rpm HP (little to no low-mid HP increase).
