So my girlfriend just got an '09 Tacoma (TRD v6 4x4). She wants to lift it 6". I have searched but just asking for any specific recommendations. She's looking to run like a 33"ish tire and 18" wheels most likely. Something decent ride quality, not stressful on the rest of the suspension, and is a decent price. and no this is not going to be offroaded. Just used for the snowy winters of utah :)
I have read the stickys, done some searches, and yes I do realize cheap is never good and good is never cheap, but something that would work for her.
Our local shop is recommending a Fabtech kit for about 1800 plus install. We may do it ourselves (ive owned and modded, dropped, etc. plenty of cars but never owned/lifted a truck) But they are also highly recommending the fabtech coilovers which are like an extra 1200$.

So is there something more affordable but just as or almost as good? Or if we do go like an 1800$ fabtech lift, would bilstein 5100's be a good more affordable fit-in (or would that even work?)

thanks in advance for any help!

I honestly have never heard of a 6" lift that rides good and has low stress on a vehicle. Just about everyone on here will say go with a 3" lift. It will look good, ride good, and have less stress on the vehicle.

You can get a sweet mid travel setup with the $3000 you would have to spend on the 6" lift. And it would last much longer.

Let me chime in here.... I just came from a 3" lift to a 6" lift back to a 3" lift.

    So.... 2 reasons I went from 6" to 3"

    1. 4wd conversion. Can't have that with pre runner spindle lift.
    2. I am still counting the shit broken on my truck from the 6" lift.

Now some people will say if you upgrade this this this this this this this this. It won't break. But your stock going to 6" spending as little money as possible... You're going to break shit. So just tell your girl or yourself 3" is good enough.

    I say 3".

Put it on with some 33's. Maybe she will change her mind about wheelin. If she doesn't like it and wants to crawl the malls, it's easier to go from a 3" to a 6" than a 6" to a 3"..just MHO..

    Bilstein 5100’s (x4), 275/65/20 Cooper XLT AT3’s
You're going to want narrower tires OP if your big concern is winter.

I don't know shit about 6" DB lifts but I love my 3" lift and would recommend it over stock any day. I spent very little compared to some setup sand it's still awesome.
    Good luck!
