I've been getting a little frustrated trying to find a Tacoma with relatively low mileage. Went to go see it, it's in good shape other than a little dirt in the bed and under the hood. Were these wheels a style that Toyota offered, as I've never seen these chrome wheels. Just want to make sure before I get locked into anything. Really considering buying. Said he'd take 11 for it.

The truck does look pretty clean for the age and mileage (but that is only from the pictures). If everything mechanical looks and functions well, and your able to get it for 11k, I think that is a very good deal! Just for reference, I bought my 05 with 83k miles on it up in Boston MA for 11.2k, so I think the 11k for that truck is a good price. Also, those are just chrome wheel covers over the steel wheels.

I love that old school Toyota Grille, where'd you get it?

The "TOYOTA" lettering is from an older Land Cruiser (PN 75311-90K00), and the grill is custom made. If you look up "Satoshi" in the search box, you will see many people can make them for you (HomerTaco is one of them), or you can do it yourself since there are a couple of DIYs. Hopefully you can pick up that truck and make yourself one!

Yea, I'm probably gonna buy it tomorrow. If I had my choice, I'd go for a first gen... but damn do people sell them with high miles (150k+)

Tell me about it... When I was looking for my truck, it was impossible to find a truck with lower miles, and that had a clean frame.

The 2nd gens aren't as prone to frame rust as the first gens right? Guess I need to take a look under it tomorrow.

I was looking at a '06 DCSB SR5 at a dealership about a month ago and saw more rust than I cared to see especially knowing I lost my last Yota due to rust with a buyback. I've looked at a few '06 and yes, they have rust. Surface or deeper. Couldn't tell you.

The truck in the CL add looks nice but as with any vehicle, one needs to see it in person. If it's all it should be, nice deal. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

NY = Rust capital of the US

And yea, I'm just noticing especially in my area that a 1st gen with 150k miles will cost me almost 9k. For a little more, I can get a newer truck. Both will run for nearly forever if taken care of.

Yeah, up in the northeast, you would have to worry about frame rust. There is a limited service campaign for trucks in cold climate states to have the frames coated or replaced if there was is a hole in the frame. But if the truck your looking at has been done in NC all of its life, I would think it would be pretty clean underneath.
