I have an 08 PreRunner with ~170k miles. I need to replace the shocks.

I have heard good things about Bilstein 5100s and wouldn't mind going that direction, but other than 2 front and 2 rear shocks what else do I need, parts-wise?

Is this something I can do myself or does it need to go to a shop?

I am simply looking for a smooth riding suspension, no lifts or anything.

    Thanks

Nothing else parts wise unless you snap a bolt or cross thread a nut or bolt on install.

I did my front end at home, very simple (IMO) all you need is a tool kit (metric sockets, ratchet, and torque wrench) jack stands, and a jack or two.

The rear is very easy, all you need is the jack, jack stands and tool kit, unbolt the old shocks, and if you can't compress the shocks yourself just jack up the truck to extend the suspension to slide in and bolt in.
Front suspension video: (this is one of the videos i followed when i did mine, and i didn't loosen the LCA bolt)

Rear suspension video: (note that since you're a 2008 the shocks mount differently on top, but it's the same basic principle.)

Sorry, I know this is an old thread. Just wondering if you used any lock-tight during reassembly.
